Course closed due to extreme cold temperatures

To all members;

 To be sure that the golf course is protecting itself from the below freezing temperatures and strong winds, we have decided to close the course through Friday. Saturday is pending on the warm up speed through the morning hours.
 I'm sure you all have seen where the lows are supposed to reach the mid to lower 20's Wednesday and Thursday night. Due to these temperatures I have chosen to ice the greens. This will in turn help protect the turf from extreme cold temperatures and largely wind.
 By icing the greens this allows the soil temperatures to remain at 32 degrees and protect the plant itself from dessication caused by wind. Starting Tuesday night I will water the greens multiple times to create a layer of ice on top of the greens. If needed the same procedure will be repeated Wednesday night.
 Now Thursday, could be a whole totally different story. I'm sure you all have seen the chances for snowfall are high. If that happens, there will be no need for watering as the accumulated snow will help protect the turf. Of course how quick will the snow and ice melt off? All of this is not known just yet, but be assured I'll be on top of it and soon as we can we'll get the golf course back open for play again.
 Thank you all for understanding our decision, as these types of decisions are made to help protect the golf course you are a member of. So that you may continue to have good playing conditions.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A MEMBER
